My dream as a child growing up in rural Illinois was to play with the great jazz musicians I heard from my Dad’s record collection.

After decades of fulfilling that dream in Chicago’s prominent jazz venues, as well as on stages both domestic and international, I am now playing my own compositions as leader of my own band, DC and the Love.

With roots in jazz, rock, folk, and blues, our band is finding a way back to the original inspiration of jazz, first exposed to me by my father, a renowned jazz bandleader who would, in a moments notice, pile a bunch of kids in his car and drive down to Chicago to hear some legendary band take the stage.

At the same time, our band is moving forward with my original compositions played by some of Chicago’s most talented, up and coming musicians, Lee Rothenberg, Joey Skoch and Ben Esposito, all of us bound by a deep love of the traditional form, as well as a conviction to expand into new, unchartered territory.
